On Saturday night, Ryan Villopoto won his third AMA Supercross Series championship in a row.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki superstar entered the exclusive club of only four riders in history to achieve that feat – the others being Bob Hannah, Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael.

“This is an amazing feeling,” Ryan said, “Each year I have a goal of winning a championship and we all worked hard to accomplish that goal.”

On a hard and dusty Utah course packed with tricky whoops, tight corners and several fairly big jumps it certainly made for an interesting night of Supercross racing action in Salt Lake City.

250 standout Ken Roczen’s whoopsie in the heat race meant he didn’t manage to qualify for the Main Event, although he still heads into the final race of the season with a points table lead.

The only Stewart on the dirt that night – Malcolm – won his first ever Supercross race as he took out his 250 heat race. Older brother James hopes to be back in time for the outdoor action later this year.

Rock Star Energy Racing Suzuki’s Jason Anderson won his very first 250 Main Event on the night, followed by Cole Seely and Martin Davalos.

Two-time former champion Chad Reed fought his way to the 450 Main Event with Cody Gilmore on the Kawasaki.

In the big boys’ class, West Coast standout Davi Millsaps came in a close second in front of Ryan Dungey.

Don’t go anywhere – it’s not wrapped up yet. Next week, the series does Vegas.

The final races of the 2013 AMA Supercross Series will take place at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
