Schefflenz, Germany September 4, 2010 – Christen Weiss was able to win the Cross Country Championship for the second year in a row on his TM 300 two-stroke.

This five DVD collection of racing action is a must for every two stroke racer, rider and fan. The set contains over 22 hours of racing and interviews from the early history of Supercross.

When this set first arrived in my home, the first DVD was inserted in the player and I was mesmerized. The hours passed so quickly that it was well past 2am before I realized that I needed to be at work in the morning. The racing is superb.

For those that are new to the sport of motocross this is a great introduction to the beginning of Motocross racing in America, specifically Supercross Racing. And for those of us old enough to have been there it is a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Please remember that these races were filmed many years ago. The production values of video has improved tremendously since the early 1970′s and 1980′s. These videos do capture the spirit and excitement of when motocross was a new sport.

During the course of these videos what is most apparent is the determination of the racers as they learn a new sport.

What is truly interesting is how much faster the racers of old looked. This is not to say that the racers of today are slow, not by any means. The racers of today have learned so much by studying these old racers and by appling new techniques. Today’s racers are super smooth and controlled in comparison to the racers of yesterday.

Each one of us can remember that intoxicating first ride on a motocross bike. When we first began we struggled to learn how to control our machines and learn to ride faster. These videos are similar to our middle years of learning.

We must also take into account that the machines of the day were not as sophisticated as today’s machines. But an interesting change occurs as you watch these videos. Right before your very eyes you can observe the technology advance and the machines look more and more like the machines we have today. The truly amazing part of motocross history is how quickly that change occurred.

Some of my favorite highlights include Marty Smith saying he was going to take it easy, because he didn’t want to get hurt and less than five minutes later he is cartwheeling down the track after missing the first turn. Then the classic battle at Anaheim in 1986 between David Bailey and Ricky Johnson. Complete edge of your seat excitement!
