From 4-Stroke to 2-Stroke – Jason’s Story
I just bought my first 2-stroke bike a few months ago. Its a 2005 KTM 250 EXC. I’ve always preferred 4-strokes because they lack the “hit” and I always thought they had more low-end. I was ready to buy a 450 4-stroke but started looking into 2-strokes. The more I researched, the more I learned that 2-strokes can be as good, if not better than 4-strokes in the woods.
The 250 has been great. Its much lighter than a 450, and to my surprise runs well at extremely low rpm. The stall resistance is amazing and the engine lugs as well as any 4-stroke I’ve ridden. It seems that a 4-stroke will flame out before the 2-stroke. I thought I’d miss the engine braking of a 4-stroke, but I’ve never even thought about it on my 250. I think it makes me a better rider.
Larger capacity Alloy Tank for M.M.X.E Maico
Following the release of the new M.M.X. Maico earlier this week we can also confirm that the Enduro bikes will be receiving the same treatment and will take on a new name, M.M.X.E. Much curiosity has been raised by the M.M.X. tag allocated to the new bikes by Maico International’s Lesley White but the explanation is quite simple, M.M.X. is Roman Numerals for 2010.
Cedric Soubeyras – TSM Interview
There are thousands of racers all over the globe that love and compete in motocross. The French Racer Cedric Soubeyras is one of the newest up and coming racers to hit the scene. Obviously he came to the attention of Two Stroke Motocross when he began competing in the European rounds of Supercross on a KTM 250 SX two-stroke, where he became an instant hero to legions of new fans.
We contacted Cedric to ask him some questions and get to know him a bit better. Plus we wanted to find out what his plans are for the future.
Cedric Soubeyras will race the MX1 GPs on a 250 two-stroke...
The plan was exclusively revealed by mx-pure.com last month and, now out of hospital after an operation before Xmas, Burkhardt Sarholz confirmed today that it will happen.
“We haven’t finalized all of the details of how to finance it, but we will go ahead. Cedric is keen to do it, and so am I. There is no specific support for the two-stroke from the KTM factory, but I get a budget from them and can decide myself how to use it.”
