Dunn on the run – Whitby Race Report – Round #5
The Fuchs Silkolene British 2 Stroke Championship went up north for round five of the world’s leading two-stroke only series – as always, preparation of the jumpy Yorkshire circuit was perfect, and an overcast morning burning off into a glorious sunny afternoon was just the icing on the cake.

2000cc V4 Two Stroke Engine?
Imagine having at your control the power of 2,000cc’s of two stroke power! Well a group down in New Zealand has commissioned an engine for a special purpose.
From the video below it appears that the motor uses 4 Honda CR500 cylinders to create the V4 configuration. Most people after watching the video of the engine being tested on a dyno have complained that the power of only 200bhp sounds a bit low.
Dirt Bike Shootout – Honda CRF250R vs. Yamaha YZ250 & KTM...
The February 2009 issue of Dirt Bike magazine contains a shootout between a Honda CRF250R, Yamaha YZ250 and KTM 250SX. That’s right a shootout between the king of the four stroke 250Fs and a pair of modern day two-strokes from Yamaha and KTM.
The following is the complete test retyped for your enjoyment. (Thanks Scooter42)
The High Cost Of Motocross Racing
After reading the MXA Online article titled “NASCAR Race Teams take a Financial Hit, Could Motocross Teams Be Next” I decided to weigh in on the two stroke slant on the cost of motocross racing.
As stated in the MXA article “the motorcycle manufacturers have footed the whole bill for their racing efforts over the last 40 years.” This will not be the case in the coming years. In fact starting as early as 2010 we will see at least one if not more major manufacturers dropping their factory backed racing efforts.
Ryan Powell – Why I switched to a Two Stroke
I have been riding regularly for the past six to seven years. I progressed from the 80 to the 85 then started riding a 250f. After riding and racing the 250f for almost five years, I was ready for a new bike. I really excelled on the 250f and I really think/thought it was a great bike. By that time I was competitive in the C class on the AMA level.
The bike purchase decision was an extremely tough one. It was the beginning of this year when I started looking and there were just so many options. I was really looking at buying the 2009 CRF450R, because i was coming off of a Honda, and I really wanted more power. I am a very thorough person when checking out a purchase, and buying a new dirt bike was a high priority. After enduring the 2009 bikes being released and even then waiting on the tests to come out. (I usually check all the bike tests and comparisons to help me choose, I particularly think MXA has a good brain on bike tests)
Service Kawasaki KX 500AF – MXA Test
Here is the test that everyone wants to know about. Contained in the May 2009 issue of Motocross Action magazine is the test of the Service Kawasaki KX500AF.
The folks over at MXA spent some quality time with the KX 500AF from Service Kawasaki. What did they think of the bike? Well here you go.
Relationship is lubricated to the Max…ima!
As the relationship between the motor-sports division of Wessex Petroleum U.K, Atol Race Fuels, and Maico International grows, the distributors for the iconic two stroke machines took a promotional role with the Maxima Oils importer and headed west for an Enduro event on Wednesday 4th June.
Taking a mid-week break from Motocross, Maico Internationals Dunlop Maxima rider Neil Berry launched himself into a two and a half hour Enduro following a promotional photo shoot for Maxima oils.
Two Stroke Only Practice Day – Elsworth Moto Parc in Cambridge
Thanks must go to Andy Lee the owner of Elsworth Moto Parc for working with the 125mx.com team and helping organize another 2st only practice day from East Anglia’s premier practice facility. Elsworth is a jump infested hard pack circuit that rewards a fast flowing rider, the key word here is ‘smooth’ and things will flow, get to aggressive and your speed and rhythm are lost.
We had a complete mix of riders as always and a great day was had by all, Yamaha’s head 2st racer and DEP 2st series Champion Dave Willet steered his 250YZ around as if its was on rails, schoolboy sensation Ryan Houghton had his 85cc KTM just nailed everywhere as he could get his teeth into some adult ‘scalps’ and there were plenty of riders stopping to check this kid out as he put in some great laps. Quickest lap’s of the day went to a super smooth and consistant Darren Redman on his YZ125 who is running top 10 at every 2st Championship event and hopes to see a round here as its his favourite venue (and it showed).
Daniel Corbin switches back to a two stroke.
Here we go. More and more stories about two strokes getting back out on the track.
This one was written up on the Racer X web site under the Trainer Talk section. Daniel Corbin was without his bike because it was down and out for a while so he decided to pick up a used YZ250 two stroke.
