Here in the UK we still have a band of 85cc racers willing and able to put it over on the larger engined 150f bikes, they’re not all like lemmings we’re pleased to say and these young guns can still ride a mx bike properly and with style.  Big Wheel 85 racing continues to generate some of the best racing at National level and the 4st has not sucked every young pilot into its clutches, as some realize that there’s more to racing than buying a fast lap on a bigger bike, and with 2st’s making their way back to National and soon World level, these guys know they have to stay sharp and learn their trade. Often the 85 and 125cc classes are looked at as a riders apprenticeship after all.

A few months ago we found that there was a calling fr a class to race two stroke 125cc machines in our area. After speaking with one of the local track promoter’s they agreed to add the class, as long as there was enough interest. The date was set for May 17th.

But an amazing turn of events, mostly a bunch of phone calls to the promoter from excited racers convinced them that they should also offer the class on opening day. With a little over two weeks before the event the news was announced on the District web site.

The newest machine to come out of their shop is the Kawasaki 1100cc triple. This looks to be an amazing machine by all accounts.

The big daddy of all the reasons that the four strokes were forced upon us, was that the EPA was banning all two strokes. This is repeated often as one of the cornerstone reasons by proponents on either side of the debate.

I have not seen any written proof of this legislation in any of the mainstream media. So with the attitude that we must have hard facts before we can agree or disagree, its is time to find out the truth.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The staff of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recommending that the agency refuse to grant an exemption for youth-model off-road motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles (ATV) from a new anti-lead law, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports.

The law, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) that took effect in February, has stopped the sale of dirt bikes and ATVs for children 12 or under. The law was meant to protect children from dangerous levels of lead in toys, but it was written so broadly that it also governs such things as children’s books, clothes, motorcycles and ATVs.

I was just sent this cool little video of a Suzuki SJ10 attempting to climb a hill. The interesting thing about this vehicle is that it is a 540cc two stroke!! Yes they used a motor that was just a little bit bigger than a CR500 to power a four-wheel drive jeep!

Following months of speculation by ardent Australian two stroke lovers, Maico Australia boss David Flowers is pleased to announce the arrival of the first 700cc M.X. on Ozzy soil.

The 82 B.H.P. crosser will be the subject of a press and photo shoot at a secret location later this week by invitation only and is expected to cause a bit of a stir as it is believed to the only production two stroke 700cc bike resting on Australian dirt.
