The Gas Gas rider stood on the threshold of victory in the final Red Bull Hare Scramble, having earned his third consecutive podium finish.

This weekend Dougie Lampkin added one more point to his mythical status in the off-road world after winning second place in the Erzberg Rodeo, one of the major events on the international calendar of extreme Enduro celebrated in the famous Eisenerz iron mine (Austria) in this eighteenth edition of this annual four day race.

I’m really pleased with the results, as a second in this race is great and very important. I would have liked to win and could have, had it not been for a big crash suffered shortly after the start. I feared the worst, but I recovered and pushed hard until the end to arrive in the second position. The bike worked really well throughout the race, so I have to thank the whole team for their work and all the help they have given me

The Gas Gas rider, who has been on the podium in each of his three experiences in the Erzberg Rodeo, started well on Friday and met the objective of placing in the top of the Generali Iron Road prologue, an uphill slalom to the highest point of the mine, allowing a front-row start on Sunday’s final test. This advantage was to no avail at the output of the Red Bull Hare Scramble as Dougie had some misfortune and suffered a sharp drop in the first few minutes of the race. Far from throwing in the towel, with his technique he managed to overcome and earned a point of honor and completed the 20 controls of the test being only exceeded by his young compatriot Jonny Walker. The third step of the podium went to fellow Britt Ben Hemingway.

The day was marked by rain and fog, which became even more epic in the first few miles. This made for constant falls and dropouts throughout the day and finally only seven riders were able to complete the entire course of this edition of the race.
