Many a night in Vegas ends up a ‘party night’.
For Suzuki’s new recruit James Stewart, last night was a $100,000 party night – the two-time AMA Supercross champion won the third Monster Energy Cup event at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium.
Taking out two of three Main Event races, James came pretty close to taking home the mighty ‘Monster Million’ paycheck on offer; that’s only up for grabs for the man who can win all three Main Event races, as Ryan Villopoto did two years ago.
Kawasaki hot-shot Ryan Villopoto won the first Main Event of the night – which was stalled by two consecutive stuff-ups with the starting gate – before Stewart fought back to take the next two.
“You don’t understand how special this is for me,” Stewart said post-race.
“I am speechless right now – this is a huge win for me.”
Stewart had a disappointing run in the 2013 AMA Supercross series on his new bike, marred by varying form and some painful injury troubles.
But the former Kawasaki stalwart fought back to stand atop of the podium and had a ball of a time doing it.
“Vegas baby. I could turn that hundred thousand into seven million if I wanted,” Stewart quipped.
Stewart rode ahead of Ryan Dungey (2nd) and Ken Roczen (3rd) on the points table.
