Motorcycling Australia Changes Displacement Rule

MA released an Information Bulletin on February 23, 2010 with a rule change for the Pro Lites Classes run in Australia.

The previous rule allowed two strokes with the capacity of 100-150cc to compete against four-strokes with the capacity of 200-250cc. The new rule bulletin raises the capacity of the two-stroke machines up to 250cc.

What does this mean?

In Australia you can race a 250cc machine straight up, whether two-stroke or four-stroke. A great big thumbs up to the Motorcycling Australia organization.

Now hopefully this rule will remain in place, unlike the FIM whom last year promised this rule change, but some time during the year quietly removed the announcement Press Release from their web site.

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is one of Australia’s largest rider organisations, with more than 26,000 members. For more than 80 years, it has been the governing body of motorcycle sport in Australia.  Since 2005, MA has accepted non-racing motorcyclists to its membership in the Riders’ Division.
